After nine seasons in the NFL Jay Cutler continues to have a love hate effect on his fan base. Many talk about his intangibles and unrealized talent. Unfortunately, what has yet to come into fruition is his potential. So let’s analyzes the criticism concerning Jay Cutler. Some say he’s not a leader, he’s inconsistent, he’s turnover prone, he doesn’t care, and my favorite he’s not a winner.
Eli Manning, Brett Favre, and Tony Romo have all been turnover prone in their career.
Tony Romo and Eli Manning aren’t considered to be leaders. Some have even said that Eli Manning, Brett Favre,
and Tony Romo are inconsistent.
In fact people use to say that Eli Manning couldn’t
win. Brett Favre is a Hall of Famer, Eli Manning is a two time Super
Bowl champion, and Tony Romo is having a career year this season. Jay
Cutler’s career stats are an 85.3% QB rating,
27,577 yards passing, and 183 touchdown passes. Now let’s compare Jay to Eli
and Romo. After twelve seasons in the league currently Tony Romo a 97.1 career QB rating,
32,753 passing yards, and 236 touchdowns (int 109).
After eleven years in the league Eli Manning has an 82.1% career QB rating,
38,935 passing yards, and 255 Touchdowns (184 int). Let’s not stop there. Tom Brady after fifteen seasons in the NFL
has a 96.0 career QB rating, 52,996 career-passing
yards, and 391 Touchdowns currently (142 int).
As you can see Jay Cutler isn’t far off statistically. He is also
younger and at an earlier stage of his career than each Quarterback I have
compared him to. Also, the Chicago Bears run the ball seven times a game a
league low. The e truth is Jay Cutler doesn’t have to be a leader to be
successful. The problem with the Bears for starters is their front office and
coaching staff.
Any coach that turns a running back like Matt Forte into
nothing more than a receiver, needs to be fired immediately. Get rid of Phil
Emory, Marc Trestman and the entire coaching staff asap.
